M.A.C. is releasing a documentary to help raise hiv awareness among teens

You saw all the DVD specials in health class and caught a Lifetimererun about it once, but you probably don’t think it’s something you need to worry about. But the reality is, HIV affects 2.1 million people under the age of 19 worldwide, so it’s time to start talking about it again. According to a recent study for the M.A.C AIDS fund, teens actually know way less about the sexually transmitted disease than they should—in fact, 33% of teens don’t even know HIV is an STD! And considering the fact that 60% of high schoolers having sex don’t use a condom (which is the only thing that can prevent an STD like HIV from spreading), and 89% of teens claim that if they had HIV, they wouldn’t tell their friends, there’s definitely a need for more knowledge. That’s why M.A.C. is releasing a feature-length documentary, It’s Not Over, about what it’s like to live with the disease to help raise awareness about how to prevent it.
